As a child I was able to go to a library and pick any book that I wanted to read. I was often reading years ahead of my peers. I benefited from libraries and schools allowing me to read what I was interested in. Libraries have been a safe haven for the first amendment since the beginning of our country. Just because someone doesn't agree with a book doesn't mean that it doesn't deserve a place on a shelf. As I fundraise, I am also writing and don't plan to write a story that will fit into someone's version of "this is acceptable". I plan on writing the stories I need to write, the stories I wanted to read a child and I hope that every other writer out there has the same ability.
