Join me in supporting diverse stories for everyone (oh and because you are extremely kind and would also like to help me finish my book).
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is a month were writers buckle down to write their story. If you've spoken to me for longer than 10 minutes, you likely know that I've been chasing my dreams of creative writing for a long time. This year, I've joined with Mighty Pens to help raise money for We Need Diverse books and I hope you'll help also encourage (GUILT) me into finishing my book.
There's been an ongoing alarming trend of book bans happening in public libraries and schools and, on top of that, the publishing industry is still lagging when it comes to diverse stories.
I'm aiming to write 30K words in November, and if you'd be willing to donate $1 for every $1000 (that's $30!) I will even throw in a hand drawn postcard for you with my handwritten gratitude, lauding your noble traits or telling you that you're very hot.
Even if you can only donate $1, that would be amazing.
We Need Diverse Books offers grants and mentorships to authors and publishing professionals, advocates for positive change in the publishing industry, and helps promote the variety of diverse books already available. They are actively involved in efforts to fight book bans and get books into the hands of kids (and adults!) who need them.
